Author tried to "update" the story of Joseph from the Bible for modern children. It's a decent retelling, but the pictures need to be more "fine tuned" to the story. Especially the one with the Spaniards meeting the Native Americans (one every American student sees in school consistently) on the page about Joseph being sold into slavery. The book is for young children, and their minds cannot help but see that as a Native American being sold into slavery. Obviously, not the message of the author. Perhaps a teacher or librarian of young children could help you pick better pictures? It has promise, don't dismiss the book! Tweak it!Product details
